Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is a UNESCO dual World Heritage site (natural and cultural). Climbing Uluru has been permanently closed since 2019 out of respect for the Anangu traditional owners.
Best experiences: sunrise at Talinguru Nyakunytjaku lookout, the full base walk (3-4 hours, mostly flat), Field of Light installation by Bruce Munro, Sounds of Silence dinner under the stars, Kata Tjuta Valley of the Winds.
Practical: stay at Yulara (Ayers Rock Resort) - the only accommodation cluster. Fly into AYQ from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Cairns.
Don't miss: the cultural centre, Anangu-led Maruku dot painting workshop, and a Kings Canyon rim walk if you have a 4th day.
